Update of the week · 26 September 2026

Young creators.
Big ideas.

Badges, stalls, a football challenge and even a game for the website. The children have become such a special part of bringing Flo’s Day to life.

This week01

One of my favourite parts of organising Flo’s Day has been seeing how involved the children have become.

The girls have been designing and making badges, learning how to use the badge press and selling their creations. In just one week, they raised more than $300, which is pretty incredible.

Playing shops, and learning so much

To the children, it probably feels like they are simply making things, having fun and playing shops. But they are also learning to work together, solve problems, speak confidently and turn their own ideas into something real.

The girls’ badges are now available at St Joey’s: one for $2 or two for $3.

From student designs to a real display

The badges are ready

After all the drawing, pressing and sorting, it is lovely to see the children’s ideas turned into badges people can choose and take home.

They are $2 each or two for $3, and all profits go directly to Run DIPG and Sleepy’s Foundation.

Made with meaning

Four Summers

We have also been learning how to make a very special bracelet. We sourced Japanese glass beads so the colours will last without fading, and added real freshwater pearls.

We thought carefully about the thread and learned how to make a slip knot, so each bracelet is fully adjustable and can be worn by both children and adults.

I decided to call the bracelet Four Summers, after the four summers we had with Flo. It is filled with colour, fun and little glimmers of light, just like her.

The freshwater pearls represent how much Flo loved the water and all the beautiful time we spent together at the beach. The finished bracelet is a celebration of Flo and everything she continues to mean to us.

Four Summers bracelets will be available to buy at Flo’s Day.

The boys are getting involved too

Some of our Year 5 boys are planning their own stalls for Flo’s Day, including a Beat the Goalie challenge where visitors can use their tokens to test their soccer skills.

Another group has designed a whole new collection of Minecraft and soccer badges. We’ll reveal those after the school holidays, and they’ll be available to buy at Flo’s Day.

Ashlyn’s amazing game

Ashlyn, one of our talented Year 5 students, has created a game for the Flo’s Day website. Seeing her take an idea and turn it into something other children can play is so special.

What Flo’s Day is all about

Flo absolutely loved playing shops, making her own choices, taking charge and feeling independent. Our Young Creators carry that same spirit forward by creating, working together and turning their ideas into something real.

They really are our Flo’s Day Young Creators, and we cannot wait for everyone to see what they come up with next.
